Tsestah & Tawiskaron : Origins of the World in Motion
Telling the Native American legend of the origins of the world by the twin-gods Tsestah and Tawiskaron, a contemporary dancer dancing with himself takes us through a journey of good and evil, birth and death, brotherhood and war.
Taking inspiration from Canadian Filmmaker Norman McLaren’s work on chronophotography, the film combines dance, image multiplication and music to create a Pas de Deux played by one dancer that enhances our perception of motion. The film delivers a visually mesmerizing narrative in five movements, following this “virtual duet” through destruction and creation.
Featuring Philip Glass’ music, the film displays movement while deconstructing film and animation using modern compositing techniques to compose, decompose, and recompose a choreography.
