Kadâmbini Remake: Interview mit den Machen

Nach einer durch konzeptionelle Umarbeitungen und meinen in den vergangenen zwei Monaten angeschlagenen Gesundheitszustand bedingten Schreibpause geht es endlich weiter! Doch bevor ich zum eigentlichen Artikel kommen werde, möchte ich Dich, lieber Leser, auf den Armitage.tv Geburtstag aufmerksam machen. Heute vor einem Jahr hat Armitage.tv in der jetzigen Form die Welt erblickt! In diesem Zusammenhang wird bald ein Artikel erscheinen, der nicht nur einen Rückblick sondern auch auf zukünftige redaktionelle und strukturelle Änderungen eingehen wird. Und nun zurück zum eigentlichen Artikel!

Iduun hat vor wenigen Tagen die neue Fassung der Show Kadâmbini aufgeführt. Wie in dem vor der Schreibpause veröffentlichen Artikel angekündigt, arbeitete das Kollektiv an einer neuen Fassung der audio-visuellen Live Cinema Show.

Der Grund für das Remake ist wie auch das Stück mehrschichtig. Zum Einen wurden neue Elemente wie ein Lichtglockenspiel hinzugefügt und zum Anderen ist  von nun an das Stück in einer Drei-Mann/Frau Besetzung zu sehen. Außerdem wurden ursprüngliche Elemente verfeinert und mehr Wert dem theatralische Spielen gewidmet. Der Grundcharakter – eine Mischung aus Videoprojektion, Projektions Mapping, Livevertonung und Theater – ist jedoch gleich geblieben.

Die Überarbeitung ist nun abgeschlossen und die erste Aufführung fand vor wenigen Tagen statt. Das hierauf folgende Interview mit den Machern sowie die Fotografienerstveröffentlichungen erklären sehr anschaulich die die Leitmotive und die neuen Elemente der überarbeiten Fassung. INTERVIEW:

A: A couple of days ago I red on the Iduun Facebook an interesting post. A short message announced a remake of Kadâmbini. Would you explain this in detail?

I: It’s not really a remake of our show in fact. It’s more like an updated version including some elements we’d like to insert for a while…. elements we had in mind, pockets and on hard disk. We’ve been given the opportunity to put these in place, when Main D’Oeuvre call us for a week of workshop.

A: Why did you decided to make a new version of Kadâmbini?

I: Because of many reasons. First of all, forced because Phillipe quite the show ( But still part of Iduun of course). We had to create a version of the show that we were able to play with three people instead of four. Then, because we were willing to include these “new” elements that we were thinking of for a long time, nearly since the beginning….
And finally, just to improve the set.

A: As I watched Kadâmbini I recognized the usage of modern media like projection mapping and classical theater play. Do you plan to change this concept?

I: No, none of it has changed. The classical theater play will be strengthened in fact. Some feedback on our set were based on the fact that we were not enough floodlighted on stage so we decided to work more on the light and our presence on stage to strengthened all the live manipulations.
Some sequences like The Introduction or The Corridor had been totally redrafted to make them more interesting, more dynamic, with the use of some new “machines” we belt for the show. We also reviewed the Tree Dress part, by building a sort of bell machine with sound captors to turn on the dress…. and many more little things like that that will make the set more magic, and hopefully less technical. But the spirit and the backbone of the show still and won’t move for sure…

A: A few weeks before Philippe released a beta version of an application for audio visual shows called Millumin. Is this linked to the Kadâmbini remake?

I: Hum! If only…. :) Unfortunately, Millumin isn’t used on Kadâmbini. Considering the very specifics needs of the project, we’re using Max/MSP to run all the disposal together. We’re using Millumin only for some part of the set like The Mapping part for instance.

A: When do you plan to finish the preparations on the new version and do you want to rename the show?

I: To end up our week of workshop in Main D’Oeuvre (Paris), we’d played this new set (which still call Kadâmbini and won’t change) on December the 3rd in front of professionals. We still have few things to stabilized, get use to but globally we can considered this new version finished. We’ll still have little things to improve, but staying on the actual format.
